Privacy Policy
1. Overview
Journey Hub ("the app") is a school and transport operator bus management platform. This policy explains what information the app handles, where it is stored, and the choices available to you. Journey Hub is designed around a simple principle: your operation's data belongs to your operation.
2. Data stored on your device
Journey Hub runs fully on-device. Information entered into the app — routes, runs, student profiles, boarding logs, vehicle records, checklists, fuel purchases and photos — is stored locally on the device using Apple's SwiftData framework. There is no mandatory cloud dependency, and the app does not transmit this data to Journey Hub's servers.
3. iCloud sync (optional)
If iCloud sync is enabled, app data is synchronised through your organisation's or your own Apple iCloud account, governed by Apple's iCloud terms and privacy policy. Journey Hub does not have access to data synced through iCloud.
4. Student information
Student profiles (including names, photos, year groups, medical alerts and route assignments) are entered and controlled by the school or transport operator using the app. The school or operator is the controller of this information; Journey Hub provides the tools to manage it with strict role-based access:
- Parents only see their own linked children.
- Medical information is never shown in the parent view.
- Editing rights are restricted by role on every screen and action.
5. Location
During an active run, the app uses the device's GPS to provide stop proximity alerts and navigation handoff to Waze. Location is used in real time to support the run workflow; the app does not sell or share location data with advertisers.
6. Camera and photos
The app requests camera and photo library access so users can attach photo evidence to checklists, defect reports, invoices, fuel receipts and student profiles. Photos are stored with the rest of the app's data on the device (and in iCloud if sync is enabled).
7. Biometric sign-in
Face ID / Touch ID sign-in is processed entirely by the device through Apple's frameworks. Journey Hub never receives or stores biometric data.
8. Analytics, advertising and tracking
Journey Hub does not contain third-party advertising and does not use cross-app tracking. Standard, aggregated App Store analytics provided by Apple (such as crash reports and download statistics) may be used to improve the app, subject to your device's analytics settings.
9. Data retention and deletion
Because data is stored on-device, deleting the app removes its local data from that device. Data synced to iCloud can be removed via iCloud settings. Schools and operators are responsible for their own retention obligations regarding student and operational records.
10. Children's privacy
Journey Hub accounts are created and managed by adult administrators at schools and transport operators. The app is not directed at children, and students do not hold accounts.
11. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a revised date.
